Let’s Try Something New!

Boot camp

I was completely dreading the thought of doing this and it’s the first time I’ve ever tried a boot camp – I didn’t even know what they do? 

But, being the soldier I am, I’m always up for trying something different.

I signed myself up to go there early Sunday morning whilst the rest of my family were asleep, it was too difficult to attempt to drag one of them along! So I’m there doing this dynamic routine with complete strangers… maybe it was better that I didn’t know them?! I informed the instructor that I am recovering from a little thing called a Brain Haemorrage last year so just to be mindful of how much he is going to push me to do. 

Well you know what, I tried it and it was so refreshing to do the exercise outside, to be able to meet new people and it was great teamwork! Although I couldn’t do all the activities, the main thing is that I tried. I was so proud of myself just to get ready in my outfit and drive to the gym! Yes that’s a great step, well done me, honestly that was the most difficult part.

And the actual interval training… that was easy! 

I was so shattered on the last round but I decided to make a bold step and do a sprint around the field instead. I came back to a ‘Well done!’ by the instructor. What I realised is that I could only do what I could do. I didn’t need to follow anyone or keep up with anyone else and I did something different, out of the box and so proud of myself that at least I tried it. 

If you want to try something new, let go of the fear and take that bold step, making the decision to go is the most difficult bit! There’s no need to try and keep up or follow everyone else just do what you can and you know that you tried your best.

If no one wants to accompany you, then just go yourself! Its you who wants to do this so enjoy it, you might meet some new friends? This is your life and if you want to think out of the box and do something different then you should.
